Prospective GSB Students
Thank
you for considering the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business
(GSB) for your MBA. We feel that the GSB has much to offer all MBA
students, particularly African-American students.
The decision to apply
to business school is a big one. The application process can be overwhelming,
because of the time required to submit a great application. As current
students, we know the uncertainty that surrounds the process and offer
the following tips.
KNOW YOURSELF:
Before writing the first essay, you must
first assess your reason for applying to business school. You should
also consider what are your strengths and weaknesses. Taking the time
to understand who you are will make it that much easier to articulate
it in your essay. In addition, it will give the admissions committee
the opportunity to see the real you-which is exactly what they are looking
for.
INTERVIEW:
If the admissions committee believes that
you are a strong candidate, you may be invited to interview. The interview
is by invitation only, and allows a school representative to get a chance
to meet you and is usually a great way to showcase your winning personality!
PLAN AHEAD:
The application process is timely and expensive.
Please plan ahead so that you have enough time to study for the GMAT
and write and revise your essays. You are strongly encouraged to
apply in the first or second round to be eligible for scholarships.
REACH OUT:
Take the time to visit the campus. For example,
participate in our annual Fall Preview. Additionally,
if you have any questions, feel free to contact any of the
current co-chairs.
