Asia Business 2006
Undoubtedly Asia has asserted itself as a critical member of the global economy. Gone are the days of seeing Asia as one exotic 'Far East destination'. The contemporary Asia is closer, more sophisticated and consequential to businesses all over the world. Each of Asia's growing countries is increasingly taking a unique role to compete in the world according to its strategic positioning and economic growth. As capitals from all over the world flow inbound to Asia, Asia's capitals have also flown outbound in greater scale and scope. Some have even arrived on the US shores in the form of unprecedented bidding on huge American-icon businesses as evidenced in the Lenovo deal and the $18.5 billion all-cash offer for Unocal Corporation. Asia's regional champions that aspire to be global competitors have also emerged, developing upscale and high quality global brands beyond the traditional cost competitive business model (Samsung, Banyan Tree, among others). This year's conference seeks to discuss and capture the aforementioned developments, hoping to identify fundamental patterns of opportunities and risks.
Why You Need to Attend
Business communities, students, and academics need to comprehend the meaning and consequences of these developments as they affect the future, be it in the form of new competitions, opportunities for partnerships, or the resulting shifts in global business and management dynamics.
