Chet Hocharoen

Chet Hocharoen has been working for Thai Trade Center-Chicago, Department of Export Promotion, the Ministry of Commerce since 1991. His assignments include market entry strategy, marketing promotion plan and trade show marketing & coordination.

Mr. Hocharoen often writes market reports which appeared in DEP’s website or published in Thai’s Exporter Magazine. He occasionally gives lectures, such as “Doing business in Thailand” to MBA students at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, “Business & Cultural Practice in Thailand” to corporate executives working in Thailand, and “Market Entry Strategy to the USA” to Thai exporters at DEP. Mr. Hocharoen is also actively involved with Thai community activities. He recently had a big role in organizing Taste of Thailand 2005, Thai Festival 2006. Both were held at Daley Plaza, June 19-21, 2006.

Mr. Hocharoen received BA in Economics (Theory) from the University of Thai Chambers of Commerce, Thailand and MA in International Economics from Ball State University, USA

 

Glenn Penaranda
Trade Representative
Philippine Trade & Investment Center

Glenn Penarada has worked extensively first as a Philippine delegate to UNIDO-Investment Promotion Service. After that he worked as a Commercial Attaché to France and then Malaysia. Finally, he worked as an Executive Director for Foreign Trade Service Corps in Philippine's Department of Trade and Industry where he coordinated export and investment promotion activities in 20 countries.

Mr. Penarada holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and an MBA degree from The University of Philippines.

 

K. Sukomaran
Director
Malaysian Industrial Development Authority

K. Sukomaran has held various positions across Malaysia Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), starting in 1987 as Industrial Development Officer to Vice Consul Investments, Deputy Director, and finally the current position as the Chicago Director of the organization.

Mr. Sukomaran graduated with Honors Degree in Economics Majoring in Business Administration, University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1978.

 

Reginald Wee
Regional Director
Singapore Economic Development Board

Reginald Wee is Regional Director (Central U.S.) of the Singapore Economic Development Board from November 2004. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Wee was Head of the Machinery and Systems Group for the Economic Development Board, Singapore, where he was responsible for the development of the industrial machinery and semiconductor equipment clusters.

Mr. Wee graduated from Purdue University, Indiana in 1991 with a Bachelor in Computer and Electrical Engineering degree. He also received an MBA from Rutgers University, New Jersey in 1998. Mr. Wee is married and has 3 children.

 

Endang Mardeyani

Endang Dewi Mardeyani obtained her Bachelor in International Law from the Diponegoro University, Semarang – Indonesia, and Diploma in Economic Development and Master in International Economics from the Essex University, Colchester - United Kingdom.

Prior to assuming the responsibility as Consul for Economic Affairs, the Consulate General of the Republic Indonesia in Chicago since January 2004, she was in the Directorate of Environment and Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta – Indonesia in 2000 - 2003.

From 2000 – 2003, she was appointed several times as member of Indonesian Delegation attending the United Nations General Assembly.

From 2000 - 2003, she was also appointed as Treasurer of the Project of United Nations Development Program - Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At that time, she actively assisted to organize national and international seminars / conferences related to current international issues, which were held at many provinces of Indonesia.

Ram Shivakumar is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Economics and Strategy at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. He teaches Competitive Strategy and Managing the Firm in the Global Economy in the MBA program and courses on corporate strategy in the Executive program. He also provides expert advice on matters pertaining to securities fraud, shareholder disputes, anti-trust and intellectual property. He is an advisor to two US-based start-ups and a partner in a strategy consulting firm based in India . His area of research is in industrial organization, financial economics and corporate strategy.
