Committees:

Faculty Relations Committee:

  • Assist in organizing breakfasts with the Dean of Program;
  • Promote greater faculty-student interactions on campus;
  • Organize Faculty Brown Bags to disseminate faculty research to the student body;
  • Act as a GBC liaison to the Graduate Student Faculty Committee (GSFC).

Graduate School Liaison & Graduate Council:

  • Attend all Graduate Council ("GC") (university wide graduate student government body - includes law school, med school, public policy, etc.) meetings and represent the interests of the GSB;
  • Coordinate GSB and GC social calendars to ensure advanced publicity of GC events at GSB;
  • Work to establish liaison positions wither other graduate schools and the College including working with joint degree students;
  • Identify opportunities for improved relationships with other graduate programs and the College.

Technology and Facilities:

  • Work with Computing Services the Facilities Department to facilitate communication between these departments and the rest of the GSB community;
  • Assist students in resolving technology or facilities related problems or concerns;
  • Generate proposals to improve the existing technology or facilities infrastructure.

Judicial Council:

  • Pursuant to the GBC constitution the Judicial Council has exclusive jurisdiction to hear disputes concerning interpretation of the GBC Constitution, the GBC Operating Rules, and the grade non-disclosure policy, and proceedings to remove any member of the GBC;
  • The Judicial Council shall also have jurisdiction to hear other matters referred to it by the GBC.

GSB / Kellogg Challenge:

  • Plan and organize yearly contest between the GSB and Kellogg held at the campuses on a rotating basis (ie 2005 in Hyde Park / 2006 in Evanston);
  • When at Kellogg: Hire bus company and create bus schedules, publicize event to students, work with Kellogg Rep on logistical information;
  • When at the GSB: Create events, organize day's schedule, design t-shirt, work with Kellogg Rep on logistical information, order food/beverages, work with administration to secure a location;
  • Assist with updating best practice documentation to ensure smooth transition of future GBC Social Chair and committee members.
