Welcome Class of 2010

March 7, 2008

The Management Consulting Group co-chairs and Class of 2009 members are very excited to welcome you to the Chicago GSB for the Admit Weekend. If you are interested in learning more about management consulting, we would love to meet you. Our job is to educate the GSB community on the opportunities available in consulting and to help prepare those interested to secure consulting jobs. The Chicago GSB MBA program is among the best in the world and we ensure that our students are best prepared for the management consulting recruiting process. The MCG therefore, offers programming throughout the year to help you learn about the consulting industry and navigate the recruiting process.

When you arrive on campus, we will host events where second-year students share their consulting internship experiences as well as events where current consultants from top firms talk about their organizations and recent engagements. These presentations offer a risk-free way for students to develop an understanding of management consulting from the leading innovators in the industry.

In late fall, members can attend the Career Forum, an all day event which will help you understand and begin preparing for the recruiting process. We will provide numerous opportunities for you to meet with second-years to review your resume and to practice interviewing. A first-year case workshop is held before interviews so students have the opportunity to practice mock cases with representatives from various firms. Further, each year we develop a case book with a detailed breakdown of several different case types, sample frameworks, tips for doing case-math, numerous practice cases and example solutions. The book will also include tips on preparing for the behavioral portion of the interview.

Throughout the year the MCG will host social events providing opportunities to get to know your classmates with similar career goals as well as second- year students who can provide valuable insights on the process.

If you are interested in learning more about management consulting, please visit our table at the activity fair. Don’t worry if you didn’t write about consulting in your application essays, we won’t tell the admissions committee!
