8/24 |
Excited for our trip, we bounce out of bed before sunrise, eager to catch our flight, and show off our matching t-shirts. Arrive in San Pedro Sula and transfer to Tela, the Caribbean coast of Honduras. After check in at Hotel Villas Telamar, we enjoy a welcome dinner and watch the first sunset of our trip. |

8/25 |
In the morning we leave by boat to explore the impressive rock formations of Punta Sal. We visit the sheltered bays, well hidden among the rocks, with palm fringed beaches and blue lagoons. We take a brief forest hike through a tropical forest alive with howler and white-faced monkeys. The rest of the time we are free to relax on the beach or snorkel in the world’s second largest coral reef. Late afternoon transfer to La Ceiba. |

8/26 |
After breakfast, get ready for a hiking / canopy adventure where we zipline through the pristine canopy of an old growth rainforest on the edge of Pico Bonito National Park. Travel from tree to tree through the jungle canopy. (Maximum weight 280 lbs.) |
| Wednesday |
8/27 |
Rafting on the Rio Cangrejal class 2 - 4 rapids. (You will be tested on basic swimming skills first.) The river is home to some of the best white water in Central America. We raft through beautiful scenery, between giant boulders, all in crystal clear, warm water. Afterwards, we will have time to relax and swim in the river. Afternoon ferry boat to Roatan Island. We will be transferred to the beautiful Mayan Princess hotel. |

A day at sea. We take a wonderful boat charter and explore the beautiful waters off of Roatan. |
| Friday |
8/29 |
We have a free day to enjoy the fun and sun of Roatan, where some of the best beaches of Central America can be found. Other activities include horseback riding and fishing charters if people are interested. We could also simply take advantage of the downtime and work on our tolerance for the local brew and spirits.(good practice for CORE). |
| Saturday |
8/30 |
Get up close and personal with
bottlenose
dolphins. You may get a picture of your "first" GSB kiss. |
| Sunday |
8/31 |
After breakfast, travel to Roatan International Airport for return flight to Chicago, holding back the tears. Arrive in Chicago Sunday evening, tan, relaxed and ready to start CORE with 15 new friends! |
